Heeling Crash Course for Spaniels - May 2025

Stop pulling - Start heeling

Who is it for

Hey Spaniel People!

Did you know that your spaniel can learn to walk beside you, tail wagging, no pulling?

No more frustration, shoulder pain, or embarassement.

No more blood-shot-eyed, panting, pavement-swimming spaniel.

INSTEAD: Happy, attentive heel until released to sniff or run

YES, it's totally possible for you and your excitable, high energy, nosey spanner!

Your's isn't a spaniel? No problem. They can be an honorary spaniel for this course ;)

Don't want to use harsh corrections or mean-looking tools? No problem, this course is reward-based. We can help you wean off the head collar or figure of eight lead, if your dog HATES it (most spaniels do!).

I'm Aleks and my mission is to help people and their busy, crazy, working breed dogs, (especially spaniels) connect deeply and learn useful skills together, so that they can have harmonious lives, full of adventures and fun.

I believe training with our dogs should be easy, effective and fun.

I created this course, because almost ALL of my spaniel clients ask for help with lead pulling.

They wanted an easy-to-follow, effective and affordable, starter course, so they could give their dogs lovely walks without stress, discomfort and mutual frustration.

They feel stuck, after trying lots of different harnesses, leads and tips from youtube, with no success.

They pass other dogs on walks, who are walking nicely. Why can't their dog?

Now, they dread taking their dog out. Each walk is a struggle. There is no connection. The owners might as well be a dead weight.

Its an incredibly common struggle with spaniels, because they are naturally very driven, fast-moving, nose-directed dogs who barely feel pain when exited. They are very persistent when they want to get to something. For their size, they are also surprisingly strong!

If that sounds like your experience, you're in the right place, I've got you:)

You can start looking forward to more relaxing walks together in near future.

How it works

In this fun and intensive crash course, you will learn hands-on how to stop the pulling and start heeling.

We start with setting a specific goal for the course, so that you can master the whole process from start to finish in a short time. This will give you the confidence to continue your success by repeating the process with more goals.

Each morning, a new lesson lands in your inbox, including a training task or two with full instructions, and when relevant, a concept to learn about (captioned video and PDF). You can access these anytime that suits you.

The tasks are fun, easy and effective. You can watch them and complete the training in your own time.

If you are following along with the group, you can post your training video in the student online community, for feedback and tips. If you're doing this course self-paced, you will still find it useful to join the student online community, ask questions and learn.

On Wednesday evening (8pm UK time) we all meet for an interactive group video workshop, where you can get personal support with your own training project.

Progress is easy when you know exactly what to do in your next step and you have the motivation, community and friendly, caring support.

Hey, you may find that your recall improves too! Your clever little friend may settle down easier after the brain workout. You will use the skills and knowledge from this course in your other training projects.

Jennifer and Jam

Cocker Spaniel

"I have just completed the heeling crash course with Aleks. I’ve tried many approaches to master heelwork with Jam and really had minimal success, he is now 4 years old and has caused me many shoulder yanks and a broken elbow. The progress in this short course has been mind blowing. Aleks has a great ability to break down tasks into bite sized chunks that means the dog has a high success rate without frustration. The steps in the course made so much sense and were fun…I didn’t feel any task was a chore. We can now do 300m at heel in 2 places and are working on generalising this in other areas now. It will take a while for this new way to become the norm everywhere but I can see light at the end of the tunnel now…when there wasn’t even a flicker last week. Very grateful to you Aleks!"

Katy and Snoop

Cocker Spaniel

"I signed up to Aleks’ loose lead crash course with our adolescent spaniel. He had developed the typical spaniel thing of “nose down, pull ahead, this is my walk” attitude. The course set fantastic foundations for future training. We now utilise the training techniques to focus him before every walk and he is becoming W joy to be out and about with. Most of the time he is able to walk to heel past other dogs, live stock and interesting smelling grass- something that seemed to be a lifetime away about 4 months ago. Would 100% recommend the course."

Marian and Barney

Cocker Spaniel

"I have just completed the Heeling Crash Course for Spaniels. The course is presented in easy to follow bite size chunks with clear video examples to follow. Barney is not walking to heel yet without pulling but he can now do both in short bursts thanks to Alex's clear instructions. More importantly, I now have the tools to continue to build on his new skills step at a time. I can highly recommend this course and Alex's as a trainer"

Nataliya and Tie

Cocker Spaniel

"I recently did walk to heel crash course and it’s been fantastic. Our 7 month WCS pulled like a train, my whole body used to ache after our walks but not now. Just in 5 day off working with Alexandra and following her positive, engaging and fun exercises, our boy walks to heel and it’s finally a pleasure to be out with him. I am sure will be doing more courses with Alexandra."

Shazza and Thistle

Springer Spaniel

"Highly recommend Aleks, she's an amazing knowledgeable and dedicated trainer. Her fantastic reward based teaching method is brilliant. Step by step guided learning for both you and your dog with all the support and helpful advice you need along the way. Thanks Aleks, the frantic scrabbling has gone and walks are a lot more enjoyable 😊"

Jessica and Max

Cocker Spaniel

"Very helpful, the tasks set were easy to follow and and easy to keep up with, and efficient worked more than I thought they would very knowledgeable highly recommend to anyone."

Grace and Merlin

Working Cocker

"We took part in the Side Spaniel challenge [note: this is now called Heeling Crash Course for Spaniels] - Aleks is so positive, clear and calm and explains things so well. She gave such constructive feedback and the progress we have made with our spaniel and rescue pup from this virtual training that she kindly pro ided free of charge is brilliant! I would really recommend her 😍 "
